Happy Saturday Love Bugs!
I was looking for a new place to experience for dinner while walking along Ft. Lauderdale Beach. I came across S3, a modern, island-chic ocean front restaurant that drew our attention immediately. It’s outdoor patio with fire pits and custom lounge seating is perfect for a romantic evening or get-together with friends.
ATMOSPHERE
I already told you a little about the atmosphere, but I can’t stress how great this restaurant is. The outdoor seating area is fresh and romantic (at night) but it can also be great for a group of people. The view of the ocean is truly the best, and it is so comfortable. Inside, it is louder and very modern in decor. My friends and I usually sit outside because it is really nice to have the ocean as your view.
And how cute are these little bathroom decals?!
MENU
S3 is known for serving ‘little plates’ as opposed to the normal large entrees that restaurants serve. This type of menu is ideal for trying several small plates with your party so that everyone gets to sample a little of everything. I must say that I really enjoyed sampling several of their menu options. This works out well with us girls who cant make up our minds about what we want to eat when we go out. Who says you can’t have your cake and eat it too?
S3 offers several different types of cuisine including seafood, sushi, wood fired options, salads, and much more. One of the most amazing wood fired options is the zellwood corn. This corn is served with a chili aioli and queso cojita sauce that is out of this world, and the best part is it’s only $5! This is a must, as you will never find a more unique type of corn elsewhere.
UPDATE: They are no longer selling the corn which really, genuinely, made me sad!
While I was appalled that the corn was removed from the menu, we all agreed that the goat cheese croquettes easily replace the corn. I could eat thirty of them because they were so great. The couple at the table next to us noticed that we were ranting about them, so they ordered them too, and loved them just as much as we did. These are a must!
Another delicious option at S3 is their mac & cheese. This gourmet comfort food is covered in smoked gouda cheese with a crispy prosciutto topping. This was truly heaven on a plate.
And of course, sushi is always an option for me when dining, so naturally, I tried the shrimp tempura roll (my fave) and the rainbow roll.
Don’t you just love the way they prepared the sushi into little hearts? I “awwwwed” a little too loud when the waiter set it down. =)
Some other great entrees that we shared were the short ribs, chicken salad, skirt steak (below), and tomato bread.
The breeze from the oceran and good company made this experience even more enjoyable. After dinner, we continued our stroll under the stars on the beach. The ambiance is amazing and I am sure you will enjoy it as much as I did.
The lunch and dinner menus are slightly different, so click here for the S3 menu!
