Ghost The Musical

Happy Sunday Love Bugs!

For  Mother’s Day, I decided to take my Mom to see Ghost the Musical at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts in Ft. Lauderdale.  I absolutely love this classic 90s film, so I figured the musical would be no different.  I was a little hesitant as to how well the cast would portray such iconic characters like Sam Wheat (played by Patrick Swayze), Molly Jensen (played by Demi Moore), and Oda Mae Brown (played by Whoopi Goldberg) because their Oscar Winning performance on this film is hard to replicate, but boy was I wrong.

Ghost The Musical follows the films storyline to a T which I really enjoyed because when writers stray from the original, the performance usually doesn’t satisfy me.  The performers did a fantastic job of portraying such popular characters!  Their emotions and performances were raw and beautiful.  I felt very connected (as did the rest of the audience) with the love demonstrated between Sam and Molly.  Oda Mae Brown was my favorite of the night, mostly because she is hysterical (that’s my kind of girl)!  The audience could not stop laughing as she made jokes throughout the entire performance.

One of the most amazing parts of the show was the multi-media concepts they included.  There were a few scenes in a subway that were unbelievable because the use of digital media actually made the audience feel like they were watching a live subway on the stage.  I was floored with the concepts they used to make people and items float through the air!

If you are considering seeing this show, I recommend that you think twice about taking your little love bugs.  This show contains several curse words, so depending on how strict you are with language exposure, you may want to leave the little ones at home.  While there is no nudity, there is a scene when Molly undresses to just a bra and kisses Sam (also shirtless) for a minute (or so) straight.

All in all, I had a great Mother’s Day and was able to reminisce about the good ol’ days.

There are still a few dates left on the tour so if you are in the mood for an exciting broadway show, head on over to see Ghost the Musical
