Blended Movie Review

Happy Memorial Day Monday!

For months I have been waiting (very, very, patiently might I add) for Blended, a new movie starring Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore.  Who doesn’t love Adam Sandler?!  He has a way with making audiences laugh and laughter is my favorite thing to do.  He is also by far one of my top 5 favorite actors.  I am probably the biggest fan of The Wedding Singer on this planet, which is the first film these two iconic actors starred in together, and I must say, the chemistry between them in their new film is just as amazing, if not better, than any other film they have done together!

Blended tells the story of a single mother struggling to raise two son’s on her own with very minimal help from her ex husband, and a single father who lost his wife to cancer who is doing his best to raise his three daughters.  These two parents meet on a blind date and have the worst time trying to get to know each other.  After several twisting, hilarious events, both families end up in the same hotel half way across the globe in South Africa!  You will experience how both families try to get along as they are pulled into some crazy and hilarious situations throughout the film.  It is not only hilarious, but heart warming and relatable for those who have ‘blended’ families.

What I absolutely love about Adam Sandler’s films is how he incorporates a lot of the same actors and actresses in each of his film.  This film is no exception! There are a lot of familiar faces and the dialogue is absolutely hysterical!  The one guarantee with Adam Sandler movies is that I always laugh so hard I cry.  Thank God I wore waterproof mascara this time, because the tears were flowing from laughter!  It’s also very hard to make my friends laugh, and every time I looked over, they was laughing.  Not the kind of laugh where you chuckle to yourself, but full blown, laugh-out-loud, laughing. I also absolutely love how Terry Crews dances and sings throughout the movie which made it even more hysterical.  The kids in the film were also charming, witty, and talented as they were a major part of the laughter that took place in the theater auditorium.   I am not going to tell you much more because I want you to be surprised by what you see, however, I must also mention that the views of South Africa are breathtaking, and if you are an animal lover like I am, you will appreciate the beauty of the wild animals roaming the continent.

While this film is one of the best of Sandler and Barrymore’s career, parents may want to think twice about taking their little ones to see it.  Even though it may appear to be a kids movie based on the commercials, it is rated PG-13 for crude/sexual content and language.  There were a few crude and sexual references that I would not want my little ones to be exposed to.  I think teenagers 13 and over will enjoy the film, however, there is a reference to nude magazine photos that you may want to think about if you are a strict parent about exposing your child to things of this nature.

I could tell others loved the film also because as I was leaving the theater, all I heard from the people around me were comments like, “That was great” and “I have never laughed so hard”.  This is a film you are not going to want to wait around until it is available on DVD.  Go see Blended in theaters now!  You won’t regret it!

I give this film five out of five stars!
